Jess wasn’t afraid to describe himself as a ‘band slut’ after contributing to touring and recording bands such as The Venice Whalers, Double Handed and Illicit Eve. Now Jess is focusing on his solo work as a vocalist/pianist/guitarist and is recording tracks in his home-based studio in his new Melbourne residence. Influenced by artists such as Sufjan Stevens and Paul Dempsey, Jess’ solo work incorporates varied musical styles which help him stand out from the stereotypical, yet exciting ‘indie/rock’ genre that is emerging in Australia.
Jess’ album The Surrealist is available for purchase now at jessporter.com.au/album/the-surrealist, and free listening to the tracks ‘Play Street’ and ‘The Grandest Plans’ are up for listening on Triple J Unearthed.
Future gigs and updates all available on the website and at Facebook, and after listening to The Surrealist I know I’ll be attending.
